They are premalignant intraepithelial skin lesions with potential to develop into invasive squamous cell carcinoma.
In Australia, it can be seen in upto 50% of all people over age of 40.
It may be solitary or multiple in a single person, but the average number of lesions was 6-8 in one person. 25% will spontaneously regress but at the same time, 25% will progress into cancerous changes. |
