Zeltiq is a company which makes new innovative non invasive body shaping machine through “Cryolipolysis™”. It chills your skin down to affect fatty layer under the skin without affecting skin. It was created from works done by Dr Rox Anderson and his colleagues at Massachusetts General Hospital, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

How It Works
The study done by Dr Anderson et al gave us useful information on how skin and underlying fat reacts to differing degree of cold and the duration. They were able to identify the optimal specifics where the fatty layer would get damaged without affecting overlying skin. Zeltiq device is designed to provide controlled prolonged cooling to achieve this hence reducing the amount of fat in novel non invasive manner.

What to expect
No preparation is required for the procedure nor any injection or anaesthesia. The area to be treated is drawn into a cup with mild vacuum. There may be mild initial discomfort during this for first 5-10 minutes. The treatment typically lasts around 1 hour during which time you may be able to read, or use your laptop to surf the web. After the procedure, patients may immediately return back to their normal activities including work or exercise. Treated site may have minor bruising, numbness, or cramping.

Ideal Candidates
Zeltiq works best for those who are on diet and exercise with areas of moderate bulge that would not go away easily. It's not an alternative to healthy diet or lifestyle.

Possible Side Effects
• They are mild and temporary

• Initial discomfort for 5-10 minutes due to vacuum
• Redness, bruising, tingling, tenderness, numbness, and cramping
• Rarely, cold urticarial
• Would suggest medical supervision during treatment.
